Now sometime in the late 1980s i think a similar accident occurred but i cannot even remember if it was in the U.S, but i then went on to what was then the net and posted a 4 bit image calling it a vertical break-shoe for cranes see the redrawn image below. And as i usually ask/do which to some makes me an idiot is i ask for no money and hope it the idea is eventually used that you do it for free.
the idea is similar to one i sent the land owner of the twin tower area as in case other newly built buildings suffer a floor collapse this simple and cheap idea will cause floors collapsing to break up into at least four areas [as the break-shoes are forcing the falling floor to bow outwardly toward the corners of the buildings when placed as i wrote them, thus causing the floor now a debris load falling onto the next/lower floor to not be such a large if not intact floor falling but smaller parts of the falling floor falling onto the next floor hopefully this will stop the vertical domino effect from gaining momentum which if it is too fast turns from momentum to weight gain/force onto the next floor below.
P.S. this was the crane company new york crane [of course smaller cranes] mayor guliani would use to tear down a building at 2 or 3am in poor neighborhood when he would win a court case to have a building evacuated. He, the mayor did this so if the case where to be appealed in the next mornings court appearance by tearing the building down quickly the judge had less of a reason to over-turn the case as the building in the case no longer was inhabitable [no kidings its rubble] by any standards i saw it happen 2 times told it was down in 4 neighborhoods incase anyone cares.
