This looks like one of the ancient way to put ones to rest after they have past on. My grand mothers- granmother's- mom had died from some kind of sickness & she had a few grown children, but her older children were in another village & there was no one fortunate enough to care for her young just months old baby, so in long ago custom when they couldn't be taken cared for, they would be placed inside with the mother, but fortunately the babies eldest sibling made it in time & was lucky enough she was still alive by the time he got there. So he took care of her & raised her. I just thought to share a story about some of these pictures that are so firmilar to old customs here long ago.
