The 507 was born in 1955 and entered production in 1956. The brainchild of US BMW importer Max Hoffman, the 507 was plagued by high production costs and drove BMW to the brink of bankruptcy. The company lost money on every unit produced.
But when you look at the car, you almost feel it would have been worth BMW's very soul. It is an exceptionally beautiful machine, with styling that would be contemporary, even today, 50 years later. Good examples of the 507 fetch between $275,000 and $300,000 at auction.
