Welcome to SECTION 1
UVM WGST 096
January 2008
I am able to paste some of document into the description box when I upload media but I can't find an add button for myself. I can add comments to other people but I'm not sure how to add them to my own.
ccooper 1/7/2008
so i had to make a new channel because i couldn't make my old one private. I was able to copy and paste my first responce/story but how do i paste and copy other peoples responces to my work? if i just paste and copy it in the new one it wont say who wrote the comment...it will actually show that i made 4+ comments to myself
Jassica-share 1/3/2008
copy your written work and then paste it into the
add comment boxes-- the boxes have a limit to how much text you can paste, so if you get cut off, just paste the rest into the next add box
janicep-share 1/3/2008
i can upload pics but i cannot upload any of my written work? does anyone have any advice???
aalbert 1/3/2008
Hey Jassica, how did you post your assignment on this thing, it seems you're ahead of the game I've posted some things but I don't know if I did it right, and how do we read other's postings, am I the only one confused here?
JaimeLeigh 1/2/2008
hello i'm hannah oakland,
i'm a senior at uvm, english major/studio art minor. for some reason in casual online text i never capitalize. it's strange. this is my last semester, and i'm attempting to complete 22 credits between now and may. yikes. hopefully walking for fitness is as easy to test out of as it sounds. as of saturday my apartment was broken into and my laptop was stolen, so i'm working from my parents dell desktop circa 1999. i'm having a ton of trouble figuring out how this is going to work. but i'm trying! similar to jaemeleigh above me, i was also stuck in southern vermont in the snow storm and am still enjoying it down here now. working from my parents house is like being stuck in the dark ages.
hopefully it will come to me. how do i create a private channel?
hannah

Hi! My name is Jaime i'm a senior with one semester to go. I am a psychology major, and an art minor. I am still trying to figure out how to create the channels, I was recently in southern VT when that huge snow storm hit, with NO internet! Talk about feeling disconnected. But I will get the hang of it soon!
JaimeLeigh 1/2/2008
I think I did create a channel and I have posted my assignment so I guess if something is wrong you'll let me know, right?
Jassica-share 1/2/2008
Hi everyone, here it is, the twango tango. It will get easier, I promise.

Be sure you've created a private WGST channel for this course, and to both subscribe to everyone's channels and also add their channels to your favorites to find our work more easily.

Please delete aliherrara from your contacts

Jassica, create your own private channel (use twango help) and post your assignment there.

Once the initial dust settles down, it will work!
(When UVM switches their online course program, this will all take place within their network and will be way smoother.)
janicep-share 1/2/2008
oh and my twango name is "scriz."
scriz 1/2/2008
heyyy everyone, my name is Jhani and I am a senior with just one semester left! I'm an English major, anthropology minor. I'm still getting the hang of this online course situation but otherwise, I'm very curious and excited about how it will all turn out.
scriz 1/2/2008
I'm confused by where I'm suppose to post my assignment? I sent you (Janice) an email regarding my questions via webCT, but can someone help me?
Jassica-share 1/2/2008
Arielle, I think you're supposed to post your twango discussions in your own channel. Then people can go to your channel and make comments about your work. You, in turn, can go to their channels and make your own responses.
lolauvm 1/2/2008
Hello everyone!!! Internet courses are very confusing to me so I hope we can all work together and learn from each other. I thought i finally got WebCT down now I feel forced to master Twango! Are we supposed to have our Twango discusions on the JaniceP channel? I'm a bit confused so any advice would help.

I grew up in VT not very far from here and went to the University of Hawaii my freshmen year, what a blast. Anyways, this is my first 1 week 2 credit class; I'm looking forward to the challenge. Hi my name is Caitlin, my ID is ccooper. I'm in my third year at UVM. I am an animal science major, and I am interested in performance art. I took acting in the fall so I wanted to take this course to see how acting can be used to express ones self. I meant, what IF the underpants were clearly women's underpants rather than men's?
While a woman in men's underpants is sometimes considered sexy/cute, it's a nearly impossible idea for a mainstream ad-- a man in women's underpants, even with a woman in there, would be too---
too homo?
too transvestite?
too sissy?
too weak?
Perhaps something of all of these? And that is somewhat astounding in (nearly) 2007!
By the way, it is a coke ad that is in shop windows all over the Czech Republic-- you're right, it could be from a movie. Either way, it doesn't seem geared towards making Coke appealing to women. To me, she looks like she got lured in there by the coke and is now stuck with this guy.
janicep-share 12/30/2006
I don't think it's her underpants, because I'm categorizing it due to the design... I don't think she would need that opening in the front if that is what it is. But if I'm mis-reading the design of the underpants, I guess it could be hers.
What if it is both? After all they are both in it.
Maybe it is like coca cola can be drank by both men and women and/or cause people to feel happy or cool (assuming that are the two facial expressions)...
I don't know, I feel like it could be a cover of a movie that was transposed into looking like an ad for coca cola. Tell us!
slee 12/30/2006
What if they were in HER underpants? How would that change things?
janicep-share 12/29/2006
I agree with both of you; the photo is saying that you will get ass if you drink Coke; but I think the girl's face is saying "whatever" as if she is somewhat forced to get in this guy's pants because he is drinking a Coke, not that she actually wants to. She looks pretty uncomfortable and maybe even pissed off that she is in this guy's underwear.
avaughan 12/28/2006
I think this photo is saying to men "drink coke and girls will sleep with you". It is very male oriented because the girl doesnt look very happy to be in this situation and the guy looks really happy that he has a girl in his underwear and he is drinking coke. The girl looks passive as if shes thinking "oh well, hes drinking coke".
corryn4 12/28/2006
In this photo an advertisement for coke is saying "drink me and you'll get some extra booty." It's geared toward males, the female looks a little apprehensive.
