Windows is infamous for the Blue Screen of Death. While my Macbook Pro has been more reliable than any Windows machine I've had, it does occasionally crash, but in a way that's a little more gentle - a black window that appears over part of the screen, informing the unfortunate user that:
You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button for several seconds or press the Restart button.
I still can't do anything about it, but it does seem like a calmer way of alerting me that "all is lost".
