chindogu are not meant to be truly "to the point".... even if it were a wide-mouth funnel, it would still look absolutely ridiculous. i suppose it first occured to the inventors to create the hair protector as something that sits as it does on the face because in this way, the brow can support it, whereas if it sat upon the mouth it would rely on the lips for support, and the brow is much stronger than the lips.

Wouldn't a wide-mouth funnel be more to-the-point? This makes you look like one of those lizards that puffs its neck spines out when it's fighting.
