Mvcarter, I see where you're coming from, but I don't think this woman is uncomfortable in her own body. The woman in my original monologue didn't truly wish she had another penis, she was voicing her frustration of being a woman in a patriarchal society. She has been through so many traumatic events that she just wants to feel a connection - love, but she keeps failing for whatever reasons. She doesn't want to be a sex object, but she can't seem to escape that identity. She's 'damaged goods' who can't voice her sadness, and so instead she lets people take advantage of her. She's a great woman, but she can't embrace that identity because so many people have abused her.

One of the most important elements that I left out was her name. She doesn’t have a name, because she is truly any woman, and that is why I added that she was a woman to every line. By reinforcing this point, I’m not saying she’s a battered woman, a psychotic woman, or an angry woman – she is simply a woman who has gone through some traumatic experiences. In the dream someone is always chasing the protagonist, however in the thirty descriptors one sees who these men might be. For one, her first sexual experience is with a married man that she knows and trusts. She also has been date raped at some point, and although we don’t know whether or not it was a stranger, we know that she was completely incapable of controlling what was going on around her. Through these (and probably other) traumatic sexual encounters, one realizes that this woman has control issues, self-esteem issues, sexual issues, trust issues, and image issues.
Even though she’s an intriguing and intellectually attractive woman as she knows so much about rock music, she’s an amazing athlete, and she’s interested in current events, she can’t allow herself to love or trust anyone. I like how the description, “she has long brown hair, big brown eyes, and a beautiful smile” is right before “she also has B cup tits and a round ass” since it shows first a lovely description of her physical appearance whereas the second sexually objectifies her. She accepts this sexual objectification, and is constantly searching for connection (which could be seen with her attempting to climb the mountain in the dream), however she has failed, so far, in her quest.
I was very conscious of what I included in the thirty identifiers and what I did not. I took things out of my own life, my friends’ lives, movies, books, and other sources that I don’t even know to create this “any woman”. I can relate to this woman because I often suppress how I really feel or really think in order to please whomever I’m with. I

It sounds like the woman in your writing is uncomfortable in her own body. She does what she thinks she needs to do. Is this the girl who said she wished she had a penis in the original story? Perhaps we fantasize about being something else when we can't embrace who we truly are.

When you read the story here, you miss a lot of the context because I couldn't figure out how to add in the stage directions in italics. Therefore, I would suggest reading it in the word document that I uploaded...sorry for the inconvenience!

Scene 1
A woman’s bedroom in an apartment. There are several band posters on the walls, along with some pictures of family and friends, a collection of athletic trophies and awards, a mirror, and clothes strewn all about. The vanity has makeup and perfume all over it.
Jenny: <lying on the bed looking up at the ceiling> Are you excited? I think you guys would be perfect together.
Gina: <her back to the audience, putting on makeup...> Well, hold off on the wedding planners until after we’ve had our first date, then we’ll see how it goes. I am nervous. I don’t know if it has much to do with him, I mean, he’s cute and nice and all, but first dates are so exposing. I feel like he’ll be judging everything I do and I can’t be myself.
Jenny: No one’s really themselves on a first date, but try not to be too aggressive or confrontational and you’ll be fine. Where are your magazines?
Gina: All over the place.
Jenny: <after picking up a few off the floor> Do you have any magazines that aren’t so heavy? Maybe you should invest in one of those frou frou ones with dating advice!
Gina: Hey! So, what are you going to do while I’m gone?
Jenny: I was going to go over to Sam’s to watch some TV show at 7:00.
Gina: <looks at watch> It’s 6:55, I don’t think you’re going to make it…
Jenny: He can wait, I have to see the finished product!
Gina: I’m going to act like I didn’t hear that, alright…Tada. <she turns around>
Jenny: Wow!
Gina: What? Does it look bad?
Jenny: No, I just didn’t realize you were that horny!
Gina: Shut up! It’s just a cocktail dress!
Jenny: With a pushup bra, a thong, three inch stilettos and heavy eyeliner!
Gina: Well, I just <Cell phone rings – sounds like a police siren> Ugh. <presses the ignore button and throws the phone on the bed>
Jenny: Who was that?
Gina: Karen.
Jenny: Karen? Karen who?
Gina: My mom.
Jenny: Oh. You’re still mad?
Gina: Yep. <cell phone rings – the ring tone is The Who’s ‘Going Mobile’”. Gina smiles> Hello? <pause> Ok I’ll be right out. <hangs up the phone> Ok, he’s outside…Bye Jenny, see you later!
Gina: Whatever happened to coming to the door and meeting the roommate?
Jenny: Chivalry’s dead, we’re independent now!

Scene 2
A nice bar. They’re sitting at a table together. He’s drinking a beer and she’s drinking a vodka martini.
Gina: No you don’t!
Man: I really do, it’s an obsession – I keep buying more and more.
Gina: How can you own eleven snakes? What does your roommate think?
Man: Well, I don’t have a roommate. I promise you…I know it sounds like I’m this crazy weirdo who collects snakes, but it started with my friend who was moving overseas and he gave me his snake. I didn’t want the snake to be lonely while I was at work…
Gina: …Naturally.
Man: Right, I guess it is silly, but I didn’t want him to be lonely so I bought another snake. They didn’t get along, though, so I had to buy another snake. Then two of

This is an amazing piece of writing. I have gotten such a great understanding of who this women is. The amazing thing is that this women who seems so hurt in your writing walks among us all day and you would never know what she has been through. I love how you had "she is a woman" after very sentence, this allowed me to see who she is aside from being a woman.
