June 29 was our first crabbing trip of the summer, and it was perfect! Ninety degrees might have been hot in Bellevue, but we were comfortable out on the water. We launched from Joemma Beach State Park and crabbed near Heron Island. We saw only a few Dungeness (all females that went straight back in to hopefully have lots of babies), but have never had much luck here catching Dungeness. The 14 red rocks we caught were some of the biggest I’ve seen, and there were tons and tons of Graceful crabs (we took our limit of 30), which are pretty good eating. What a fabulous day!
