Today's vision of female sexuality has come such a long way from what it used to be. From the Betty Crocker wannabe's making their husbands breakfast, lunch and dinner, cleaning up their mess and answering everything with a "yes dear". I couldn't even imagine that being my only career in life... pleasing my husband as my main job, I mean come on please. To the current image of female heart surgeons, female political leaders ect.
When I was a little girl I used to watch old 1950's movie with my mother, and I can't for the life of me remember what movie we were watching but it has a mother as the typical 1950's house wife. I remember telling my mom, "Momma, I want to be just like her!" At the second she turned the TV off, and said listen Jaime, you're not going to be waiting on anybody, you should do something you want and love, make a career for yourself. Don't rely on your husband to support you". After that, there was no more 1950's housewife movies. She made such a valid point. I came to realize that today women can be whatever they want, and my mother being the strong woman she is never made me forget that. That same year my dad asked me if I wanted an easy bake oven...I didn't say "hell no" but I definitely didn't say yes.
As I grew up, I realized at a young age that there isn't always going to be something there to protect or support you. You need to make your own living in life and support yourself. Back in the 1950's women were not as lucky as women today, I love how I have the opportunity to become a heart surgeon, or an air-force pilot whatever the hell I want, and not be confined to the kitchen and an apron, with a vacuum as my strongest weapon in hand. Why do females have to conform to the typical female image?
