bugbrand weevil oscillator. three square waves: 1 -sync-> 2, 1 -sync-> 3, all three ring modulated 1 -> 2 -> 3. the first three tones are the raw oscillator outputs with no sync on. the end of the recording shows the power starve effect on the patch.

the sequencer is 'stepping' the afg whereby the two rows are modulating the +/-PPM inputs on the AFG. a Plan B model 15 oscillator saw wave is feeding the sync input of the AFG. a vulcan modulator LFO is modulating the pitch (1v/O) of the AFG. (the harmonics of the sync are 'locking' the AFG up to make that four-note sequence!)

the mix output of the doepfer 143-1 Quad AD is wobbling the frequensteiner cutoff (LP). there is no resonance in this recording.

the recording begins with the signal input/output of the doepfer a-119 preamp set at about unity gain (9 oclock). at about 0:29 i slowly bring the gain up to 12 oclock. this overloads the frequensteiner input, which gives the ripped up liquidy sound.

using a vc switch to switch between a saw and square wave on two oscillators, but with a wasp filter added in for a little extra fun. the pulse width of one oscillator is providing the 'splice point'.

this is the sound of the Plan B Model 15 in a linear FM patch.
i found that the model 15 responds in a very satisfying way to FM from other oscillators, particularly in its throaty, growly type way.

patch:

you are hearing the Plan B model 15 saw wave.
the m15 is being modulated by a sin from a AFG oscillator.
both oscillators are tracking 1v/O from the same source.
at first, you hear the raw saw. then, i turn up the FM amount, tune both oscillators, then plug the 1v/O inputs up.

AFG - linear fm patch

this is the sound of the AFG in a linear FM patch.
i found that the AFG does not respond well to a modulator that is higher in frequency than its own pitch--however, when its pitch is also high, some very interesting and satisfying tones can be achieved.

patch:
