This is the actual recording of the interview with former pro-football player, TV commentator and inspirational celebrity Eddie George. He was en route from the airport in New York and it was my fist and last interview as I'm not a journalist. He put up with my lack of experience and was gracious enough to bless our small unknown newsletter with an interview. The article was not allowed into the newsletter because they said he sounded "unprofessional" and needed to sound "more intelligent." When I told my editor this sounded racist she had no answer for me. UCONN supported her assertion that Eddie George who holds a degree in Landscape Architecture, owns two Landscape Architecture firms and is African American has nothing to do with minorities in Landscape Architecture. I think it's racist and ridiculous. Now you can listen and judge for yourself.

“Felonia” - During the second semester sophomore year professor Alexopoulis taught a lecture course on landscape architecture history mandatory for all landscape architecture majors. I took this class. This was the semester where professor Alexopoulis jabbed me in the back with his fingers as outlined in the document on the What Happened page. During this course he would pepper his lectures with inferences to his beliefs of me. Most of which did not stand out enough to be easily recognizable.
There was a student in the front row taping the lectures so he knew he had to watch what he said. Much of these inferences were coupled with physical gesturing, like pointing at me or in my direction in conjunction to his inferences. This was to give hints that were not meant to be wholly recognizable by themselves, but tom add up to an understanding over time. This way people would eventually get the hint.
This particular jab came when he was about to discuss a design called the villa Farnesi. He says,” I mean at the Villa Farnesi I keep saying the Villa Felonia no wonder you keep looking at me funny.” He was talking to me when he said the part about me looking at him funny. I know this because he was looking at me and gestured at me with his hands. There was never a previous mention of a Villa Felonia. This was his way of hinting to my felon status and letting me know that he knew I was a felon. He goes on to dramatize the pain he assumed I was in as a result of this indirect outing of my status by saying, ”ohh my god!” He then looks at the class and says, ”got him.”
This proves that he knew about my status as a felon and was prone to harassing me about it. It also shows his propensity for and even dexterity with using innuendo to spread “the word” about me. It also shows how important it was to him as he was taking detours from his lectures to single me out.

“You get any closer to me…” - In this clip professor Alexopoulis is talking to the class and is standing next to my desk. While he was talking I was leaning on the end of my desk closest to him which would have been to my right. I was not trying to lean close to him on purpose or anything like that. The professor then begins to threaten me by saying, “you get any closer to me…” He then stops as if he realizes the lecture is being recorded and switching gears says, “you gonna kiss me or something?” This betrays his underlying contempt for me. It is similar to the video clip where he tells me to hold his ruler then insults me.

“Mental India Aladdin” - As mentioned earlier professor Alexopoulis had been working on riling up members of my graduating class to create a hostile environment in the landscape architecture classroom against me. This was racial based and occasionally this came out overtly on a recording. This is an example of that. Here a group of students has just come back to the junior design studios from getting dinner. I was there and my recording device happened to still be on as I left it running from recording the earlier lecture. The other students didn’t know the recording device was running. A student was playing the soundtrack from the movie Aladdin in the background. Another student named, Jacalyn Chnowski, asks loudly and in response to no verbal prompts just me being there, “Is there a mental India Aladdin?” Then she says, “go away.” I was the only person of Indian decent in the room. It is overtly harassing me as the student obviously bases her insults on my race. After the insult she then tells me to go away.

“Pesky Native Americans” - There were many inferences about me during professor Alexopoulis’ lectures sophomore year. Many were just too subtle to be worth putting here as it was a cumulative effect he was going for not a one time big hit. Others would have been more obvious if you could see him and hear him at the same time as I was sitting in the front row with no one else close to me and he could just point or gesture in my direction to help people get the point that he was talking about me. Also to help me get the point that he was talking about me.
However during this lecture he let some of his bigotry slip. He is discussing a fence used by early European American settlers around villages and small towns. He claims the fence called a paling fence was meant to keep out animals and “pesky Native Americans.” It’s a small sign of things to come as he would ramp up his efforts to discourage me from pursuing a degree in landscape architecture in later semesters.

These 6 clips were taken from two separate on campus field trips during junior year and from the senior studio senior year. Each clip is separated from the next with about one second of black screen. That is how they can be differentiated. Explanations of each clip are listed below:

1) In clip one I have turned on my camera, but no one but me knows it's recording. As we walk we are passing a couple of churches on our right across the street. I was constantly getting tormented verbally on an everyday basis and here is a clear example of how. As we walk you'll notice a couple pass us on the left one of them is wearing a lime green jacket. As she passes me you can hear a student named Bill Weickman say, "you're going against the Western Church, Sudhama." This goes to show the level of ethnically based hostility toward me which permeated the everyday atmosphere of the class.
2) In the next clip everyone in the class pretty much realizes the camera is rolling. The person in front of the camerais Professor John Alexopoulis, does realize the camera is rolling. He still demonstrates his dislike for me by taking the stick he's holding and saying to me, "hold to this will ya." I start to say my hands are full and before I can he adds, "well do something." His manner is terse, gruff and rude. You can hear from the class reaction everyone took it as a diss. This is how he was when he knew he was being recorded. You can imagine how it was when he wasn't. Done on a regular basis it's probably easy to see how this could become infectious and permeate the class.
3) In the next clip Professor Alexopoulis makes an attempt to really hurt me. In 1987 4 days before Christmas when I was fifteen years old my father passed away due to complications from a previous stroke leading to a heart attack. The stroke left him bed ridden for about a year before he had a heart attack. I had shared this with members of the class, and as it was a small class
